WAVE - Motorolasolutions.com

Project Summary

Challenge

  1. Motorola Solutions needed to improve the story and experience for its Wave software subscription. Additionally, it's content needed to be integrated into its new and improved site.

  2. Motorola wanted to start enabling a shopping experience of software subscriptions directly through their site.

Objective

The objective was to design the e-commerce experience for Motorola Solutions' first software subscription that blends software and hardware offerings with multiple subscription plans. This includes providing an effective and seamless exploring and learning experience, a quick purchasing and checkout experience, and a simple subscription managing experience.

Research and
Analyzing Requirements

With a timeframe of 6 months, requirements were not provided before my involvement with this project. I worked closely with stakeholders to understand the challenges and needs of this project. Together we identified essential requirements that kick-started the project. After two workshops, I created user flows and mid-fi designs to help visualize concepts, obtain stakeholders feedback, and start finalizing requirements in writing for development.

I also conducted a comparative analysis on subscription websites such as phone and software online stores to help me understand best practices.

Wireframing
and Prototyping

After finalizing the project needs and obtaining approval from all stakeholders, I implemented the requirements into tangible prototypes. I started by sketching concepts on the boards during workshops with stakeholders, which allowed to get useful insight and feedback on the spot. Then, I used Motorola Solutions UI design system to digitize my concepts in the appropriate UI and keep the consistency of the pages as presented below.

Redefined
Hi-fi Prototype

In collaboration with a Visual Designer, I was able to convert my wires into hi-fi mocks. Due to constraints imposed by the projects deadline, technical capabilities and limited components in the UI design system, various items and ideas in the initial concept proposed did not make it to the final version.

However, the stakeholders and I plan revisit those concepts in future sprints. Please contact me to learn more about the constraints and how I handled each of them to still deliver an effective user experience.

Belo you can find the final responsive design deliverables for WAVE's first release.

NEXT PHASE

Test and enhance the desktop and mobile design usability.

Integrate analytics tracking to all Wave related pages in order to learn more about our buyers shopping habits and preferences.

Continue to iterate and evolve the design to effectively account for other software subscription offerings in Motorola Solutions portfolio.

Continue integrating e-commerce components that were restrained by technical limitations to provide quicker and easier conversions.
